Peter J. Gundermann

Peter J. Gundermann serves as a Strategic Advisor to Young Pilots USA, consulting on the management of the national organization and fundraising efforts.

Peter is the Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Astronics Corporation, a Russell 2000 aerospace electronics firm headquartered in East Aurora, NY, specializing in aircraft lighting for commercial and military applications. After joining Astronics in 1988, he became a Board Director in 2001, President and CEO in 2003, and Chairman in 2019. Mr. Gundermann has also served on the board of Moog, Inc., an S&P 600 aerospace control systems manufacturer, since 2009.

Mr. Gundermann holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Brown University, and an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

As a pilot, Peter holds a Private Pilot's License with ASEL, AMEL, and Instrument ratings, as well as a single-pilot type rating in the Beechcraft Premier 1A, which he flies as a corporate aircraft. He has over 3,000 hours of total flight time, and previously flew a Beechcraft G36 Bonanza and a Cessna 421 Golden Eagle.

Peter lives in Hanover, NH with his wife, Rikke, two children, and two step-children, when not travelling worldwide for business.
